Event IdeAs

The mission week is about you doing something to reach your community with the gospel. But to help you get thinking, here’s 30 ideas for building community relationships, sparking conversations and sharing the good news.
    1. Worship by the Station – whether it’s a Gospel choir or a guitarist with a couple of friends, or just a recording, take the message to the stations. If we could do this for two hours in the morning and again in the afternoon at peak hours, we’d be saturating London in worship as people start/finish their commute!
    2. Car wash – It’s an old favourite, but on a sunny day is great fun and a good way to serve. Mobilise the congregation to bless the street and remember to share why you’re doing it!
    3. Ceilidh/ Barn Dance – a great event for bringing young and old together in an evening of jovial dance.
    4. Prayer Couch – head out onto the street with a couch and a simple sign saying ‘FREE PRAYER’. Then offer those that take a seat prayer. Simple.
    5. Ice Cream Give-Away – nip to the cash and carry and get the cool boxes ready. Then hit the streets with a free ice cream on a hot day and demonstrate the love of Jesus practically.
    6. Worship Flash mob – hit the streets and creatively spark faith conversations.
    7. Pampering session – give the ladies a chance to relax in an ambient space and be looked after with massages and facials.
    8. Social action – Show the community you care: clean up, repaint, make a stand for the change you need to see. Better still, do it with them!
    9. 5-a-side – Competitions for all ages, works well as part of a fun day or as a stand-alone event.
    10. Choir from scratch – invite people to come for a day of workshops with a talented conductor and produce a piece in a day to perform in the evening.

We want to get a picture of what God is doing and it’d be great to hear what you’re planning! We can then also pray for you!

If you don’t quite know what you’re doing yet, but know your church will do something, still fill in the form and we’ll put a map together with churches involved and events happening all plotted out. And we’ll start sharing stories via this mailing list to help spur one another on.
